Jacob had learned the lesson: trusting God was the only way. When Jacob was worried about reuniting with his brother Esau, he went to God in prayer and demanded God's blessing, on the basis of God's own grace and promises.
Jacob's prayer to God shows boldness and confidence that we also have when praying to God. Because of God's grace, we can be confident of God's blessings.
