The second peak of the Epiphany season, Jesus reveals his glory to a select few – to those who believe. As the disciples saw Jesus glory with their own eyes, we have the same revelation in the Word.

Jesus shows his power and authority in his teaching and in his power over the devil. Jesus continues to show that power today as he evicts the devil from people's hearts and moves in himself.

God sustains and powers his people to battle their enemies. The devil, the secular world, and our own sinful natures are no match for Baptism, Word, and Supper.

The call to faith shows God’s hidden power. Many reject it. For others, God’s call not only invites, but also creates the faith to do it. God calls, “Believe!” and the Word creates faith.
